Joan Whalen, Director of Administration

Joan Whalen, a native South African, lives in Newton with her husband, Ed. She has two children: Kirsten, who lives in Burbank, CA, and Keegan, who recently completed his undergraduate degree from University of Delaware and is currently  traveling in Europe and Africa. Joan holds a MA in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University, Mass. and a M.Phil in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. She has previously taught at Lesley University and Bay State College, and has a background in travel, with a focus on planning safaris to Africa. She was confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in South Africa, and has also worked in a number of churches in the Boston area. She looks forward to a long and rewarding relationship with Newton Presbyterian Church.
