About the Church
The true "church" is not a building or Sunday morning worship. The Greek word for church (ekklesia) means 'the called out ones.' The Bible also used the image of the 'body' to describe God's called out people, and Jesus is the 'head' of this body. Church, then, is a mysterious organism made up of people throughout the planet who are or have been connected through faith in Jesus. In this corner of space and time, at Newton Presbyterian Church, we experience Jesus' tenderness for a small but vital part of His body. We invite you to join our grateful response to that divine care.
