WOMEN AT NPC

Our goal in Women’s Ministries at Newton Presbyterian Church is to walk beside you wherever you are in the journey of faith. Along with informal conversations over coffee in the vestry after the services, our church provides several venues for women to grow closer to one another and to God. I’ve listed several of them below. For more information about any of the opportunities on this page, please contact me, Nici Smith, Director of Women’s Ministries, at npcwomen@newtonpres.org.

Small Groups: Connect To God and Others

Monday Evening Women's Bible Study

Gather with women in all stages of the journey for fellowship, study, and prayer. Again and again, we hear our evening study has changed people’s lives -- a testimony to the power of the Living Word, prayer, and the blessings of friendship.  If you desire to discover and/or know the Lord better, and spend time with women who are genuinely caring, please join us! We are currently doing a study on 1st John entitled "Walking in the Light". To find out more or to register please contact: Fran Questad at fquestad@hotmail.com

Time: 7:00 PM
Venue: Church Parlor

Faith Journey: A Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Bored of the same old church talk? Tired of superficial relationships?  Join us on Thursday mornings as we dig deeper into God’s Word and challenge each other to follow Jesus with fresh energy on the narrow road.  Childcare is provided from infants on up with a content-based program for children. Our Newton Presbyterian Church small group periodically joins churches from around the greater Boston area for large group lectures. We are particularly thankful for our 35 year partnership with Park Street Church. Our 2009/2010 series is an inductive study on the book of Acts and the Life of Paul. Contact Nici Smith at npcwomen@newtonpres.org.

Time: 9:45 AM – 11:45 AM
Venue: Upper Room

The Mom Connection

Need to spend time with others traveling through the ups, downs, twists, and turns of motherhood?  Each Friday we gather to share stories, advice when requested, prayer requests and a bite to eat along with steaming cups of coffee. This group is open to all and welcomes any moms who are looking for a place to connect. During our meeting time, our children are cared for by wonderful childcare workers who lead them in a craft, outdoor play time when whether permits, songs, a Bible story, and a snack.   A number of guest speakers share their stories and encourage those of us newer to this adventure of motherhood with relevant topics. Please contact Amy Ulrickson for more information at ulricksons@rcn.com or 480 321 5006.

Friday's from 9:30-11:45 AM

Venue: Upper Room

Meals for New Moms

In a joint effort between women's ministries and the deacons we have a super easy and efficient live web based system in place that allows for us to bless new moms and their families with meals. We hope you are willing to be a part of this wonderful program that so blesses and provides for the needs of families in such a tangible way. You do not need to be a gourmet chef, in fact you may even give gift certificates to local restaurants. If you want to join the meal team please contact Andrea Pannell at pannell@mac.com

Young Women in Fellowship

Are you a young woman in your 20's or early 30's with no more than one child?  If you are and you are looking for a non-committal, fun way to get connected then you may be interested to know that each month Amy Choi plans a get-together at her home in Natick. Usually a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon.  Amy says "Already we have had a pizza party, a gingerbread party, and a chocolate fondue party – yes, we tend to like food but we may come up with some other themes as we go."  This is not a study but simply a time of fellowship to get to know one another.  There is no commitment, simply come when you can.  If you are new to the church (or even if you’ve been around awhile) then this is a wonderful way to meet some other women in a casual and fun atmosphere.  Feel free to invite a friend too! For more info or to be included in the email invite list please contact Amy Choi at amykathleen85@gmail.com

Saturday Craft Time

Join Wendy and company in Framingham on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 2-5pm starting September 18th for an afternoon of knitting/crocheting/needlepoint or any other "lap only" craft. And of course snacks, refreshments and a good laugh are a given. For more information contact Wendy Williams at 774-217-1972 or wjw1000@gmail.com

NPC Women’s Panels: Sharing The Wisdom

Join women of all ages for informative, inspiring panels two to three times a year as we explore a variety of relevant subjects. During each event panelists from the congregation respond to questions asked by others seeking wisdom and guidance. They provide straight talk, authentic answers, humor, and grace; we provide delectable desserts, tea, and candlelight. OUR NEXT PANEL WILL BE SUNDAY MARCH, 7TH AT 4PM. Trust and Worry: A Balancing Act (A Women's Panel on the Biblical Approach to Worry and the Practical Application of letting go) with panelists Kristen Lucken, Sandy Siciliano and Ruth Borchers.

The Three Rs of Retreats: Rest, Recreation, and Renewal

Need some refreshment for the soul? Half-day and day retreats are held at NPC twice each year, usually in the spring and fall.  An eloquent, inspiring speaker addresses a faith topic, and we reflect on how to apply what we’ve learned to our daily lives. Lunch provides a lovely time for good conversations with old and new friends.
